Local Lyapunov Spectrum Rigidity of Nilmanifold Automorphisms

Abstract

We study the regularity of a conjugacy between an Anosov automorphism LL of a nilmanifold N/ΓN/\Gamma and a volume-preserving, C1C^1-small perturbation ff. We say that LL is locally Lyapunov spectrum rigid if this conjugacy is C1+C^{1+} whenever ff is C1+C^{1+} and has the same volume Lyapunov spectrum as LL. For LL with simple spectrum, we show that local Lyapunov spectrum rigidity is equivalent to LL satisfying both an irreducibility condition and an ordering condition on its Lyapunov exponents.
