Isotopic classes of Transversals

Group Theory 2012-11-20 v1

Abstract

Let GG be a finite group and HH be a subgroup of GG. In this paper, we prove that if GG is a finite nilpotent group and HH a subgroup of GG, then HH is normal in GG if and only if all normalized right transversals of HH in GG are isotopic, where the isotopism classes are formed with respect to induced right loop structures. We have also determined the number isotopy classes of transversals of a subgroup of order 2 in D2pD_{2p}, the dihedral group of order 2p2p, where pp is an odd prime.
