Inclusive charmed-meson production from bottom hadron decays at the LHC

Abstract
We present predictions for the inclusive productions of the D meson originating from bottom hadrons at the CERN LHC in the general-mass variable-flavour-number scheme at next-to-leading order. We present results using two methods to describe the transition for : a two-step transition , based on the fragmentation functions and the spectra for as measured by CLEO and a one-step transition based on the fragmentation functions for . The results of both approaches are compared.
