Heavy b' and t' Decay

High Energy Physics - Phenomenology 2008-11-07 v1

Abstract

Heavy tbWt' \to bW is currently being searched for at the Tevatron, but a broader spectrum should be explored at the LHC. For mb<mtm_{b'} < m_{t'}, we discuss the two decay branches, btWb' \to tW^* and tWt^*W, below the tWtW threshold, and how they merge with btWb' \to tW above threshold. We use a convolution method with five body final state, and compare the production cross section with PYTHIA. This can be extended for a bb' with mass heavier than tt'. A similar discussion is given for tt' decay, considering tb()W()t' \to b^{(*)}W^{(*)} processes, besides the tbWt' \to bW considered by CDF.
