H\"older continuity and differentiability on subsequences

Abstract

It is shown that an arbitrary function from DRnD\subset \R^n to Rm\R^m will become C0,αC^{0,\alpha}-continuous in almost every xDx\in D after restriction to a certain subset with limit point xx. For nmn\geq m differentiability can be obtained. Examples show the H\"older exponent α=min{1,nm}\alpha=\min\{1,\frac{n}{m}\} is optimal.
