Geometric approach to the modular isomorphism problem: groups of order 64

Group Theory 2026-03-31 v2 Commutative Algebra Rings and Algebras

Abstract

We introduce a procedure based on computational algebraic geometry to determine whether two algebras are isomorphic. We then apply it to show that if RR is a commutative unital ring in which 22 is not invertible, GG is a group of order dividing 6464 and HH some group, then an isomorphism of unital algebras RGRHRG \cong RH implies an isomorphism of groups GHG \cong H.
