Generic Newton Slopes for Artin-Schreier-Witt Tower in two variables

Abstract

We prove that for any generic polynomial ff in two variables of degree (d1,d2)(d_1,d_2) over the rationals, for pp large enough the Newton slopes of the character power series Cf(χm,s)C_f^*(\chi_m,s) of ff at pp is independent of the choice of the character χm\chi_m (of conductor pmp^m); and the Newton slopes of the LL-function Lf(χm,s)L_f^*(\chi_m,s) of ff at pp is in weighted arithmetic progression.
