Finite Hochschild cohomology without finite global dimension

Abstract

Dieter Happel asked the following question: If the nn-th Hochschild cohomology group of a finite dimensional algebra Γ\Gamma over a field vanishes for all sufficiently large nn, is the global dimension of Γ\Gamma finite? We give a negative answer to this question.
