Excluding disjoint Kuratowski graphs

Combinatorics 2024-05-10 v1

Abstract

A graph is a ``kk-Kuratowski graph'' if it has exactly kk components, each isomorphic to K5K_5 or to K3,3K_{3,3}. We prove that if a graph GG contains no kk-Kuratowski graph as a minor, then there is a set XX of boundedly many vertices such that GXG\setminus X can be drawn in a (possibly disconnected) surface in which no kk-Kuratowski graph can be drawn.
