Exceptional Periodicity and Magic Star Algebras. I : Foundations

Abstract

We introduce and start investigating the properties of countably infinite, periodic chains of finite dimensional generalizations of the exceptional Lie algebras: each exceptional Lie algebra (but g2\mathbf{g}_{2}) is part of an infinite family of finite dimensional algebras, which we name "Magic Star" algebras. These algebras have remarkable similarities with many characterizing features of the exceptional Lie algebras.
