Entry time statistics to different shrinking sets

Abstract

We consider ψ\psi-mixing dynamical systems (X,T,B,μ)(\mathcal{X},T,B,\mu) and we find conditions on families of sets {UnX:nN}\{\mathcal{U}_n\subset \mathcal{X}:n\in\mathbb{N}\} so that μ(Un)τn\mu(\mathcal{U}_n)\tau_n tends in law to an exponential random variable, where τn\tau_n is the entry time to Un.\mathcal{U}_n.
