Elastic e-d Scattering Data and the Deuteron Wave Function

Nuclear Theory 2014-11-18 v1

Abstract

What range of momentum components in the deuteron wave function are available e d elastic scattering data sensitive to ? This question is addressed within the context of a model calculation of the deuteron form factors, based on realistic interactions and currents. It is shown that the data on the A(q)A(q), B(q)B(q), and T20(q)T_{20}(q) observables at q6q \leq 6 fm1^{-1} essentially probe momentum components up to 4mπ\simeq 4 m_\pi.
