Effective Field Theory of Neutron Star Superfluidity

Nuclear Theory 2007-05-23 v2 Astrophysics High Energy Physics - Phenomenology

Abstract

We apply effective field theory and renormalization group techniques to the problem of Cooper pair formation in neutron stars. Simple analytical expressions for the 1S0^1 S_0 condensate are derived which are free of nuclear potential model dependencies. The condensate is evaluated using phase shift data from neutron-neutron scattering.
