Edge-unfolding nested prismatoids

Metric Geometry 2023-12-25 v3

Abstract

A 33-Prismatoid is the convex hull of two convex polygons AA and BB which lie in parallel planes HA,HBR3H_A, H_B\subset\mathbb{R}^3. Let AA' be the orthogonal projection of AA onto HBH_B. A prismatoid is called nested if AA' is properly contained in BB, or vice versa. We show that every nested prismatoid has an edge-unfolding to a non-overlapping polygon in the plane.
