Duality Symmetry in Kaluza-Klein $n+D+d$ Dimensional Cosmological Model

Abstract

It is shown that, with the only exception of n=2n=2, the Einstein-Hilbert action in n+D+dn+D+d dimensions, with nn times, is invariant under the duality transformation a1aa\to \frac{1}{a} and b1bb\to \frac{1}{b}, where aa is a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker scale factor in DD dimensions and bb a Brans-Dicke scalar field in dd dimensions respectively. We investigate the 2+D+d2+D+d dimensional cosmological model in some detail.
