Abstract

Let GG be a finite group and VV be a finite GG--module. We present upper bounds for the cardinalities of certain subsets of \Irr(GV)\Irr(GV), such as the set of those χ\Irr(GV)\chi\in\Irr(GV) such that, for a fixed vVv\in V, the restriction of χ\chi to <v><v> is not a multiple of the regular character of <v><v>. These results might be useful in attacking the non--coprime k(GV)k(GV)--problem.
