Compact embeddings and indefinite semilinear elliptic problems

Analysis of PDEs 2007-05-23 v1 Functional Analysis

Abstract

Our purpose is to find positive solutions uD1,2(\rzN)u \in D^{1,2}(\rz^N) of the semilinear elliptic problem \laplaceu=h(x)up1-\laplace u = h(x) u^{p-1} for 2<p2<p. The function hh may have an indefinite sign. Key ingredients are a hh-dependent concentration-compactness Lemma and a characterization of compact embeddings of D1,2(\rzN)D^{1,2}(\rz^N) into weighted Lebesgue spaces.
