Classification of balanced toral elements of exceptional Lie algebras

Abstract

Let g\mathfrak{g} be a simple Lie algebra of exceptional type over an algebraically closed field kk, and let GG be a simple linear algebraic group with Lie algebra g\mathfrak{g}. For chark=p>0\mathrm{char} \, k =p >0, we present a complete classification of the GG-conjugacy classes of balanced toral elements of g\mathfrak{g}. As a result, we also obtain the classification of conjugacy classes of balanced inner torsion automorphisms of g\mathfrak{g} of order pp when chark=0\mathrm{char} \, k =0.
