Characterization of Graphs with Villainy 2

Abstract

Let ff be an optimal proper coloring of a graph GG and let cc be a coloring of the vertices of GG obtained by permuting the colors on vertices in the proper coloring ff. The villainy of cc, written B(c)B(c), is the minimum number of vertices that must be recolored to obtain a proper coloring of GG with the additional condition that the number of times each color is used does not change. The villainy of GG is defined as B(G)=maxcB(c)B(G)=max_{c}B(c), over all optimal proper colorings of GG. In this paper, we characterize graphs GG with B(G)=2B(G)=2.
