Almost multiplicity-one property of spherical varieties over finite fields

Abstract

Let HH be a connected algebraic subgroup of a connected reductive group GG over a finite field Fq\mathbb F_q such that G/HG/H is a GG-spherical variety, i.e., G/HG/H has an open dense BB-orbit for each Borel subgroup BB of GG. We formulate, for the pair (G,H)(G,H), an almost multiplicity-one property. Then we establish a criterion for this property in terms of the BB-stabilizers on G/HG/H. In particular, we will see that this property is analogous to the strongly tempered condition in characteristic 00.
