A short proof of Grinshpon's theorem

Rings and Algebras 2009-04-07 v1

Abstract

Grinshpon has proved that if SS is a commutative subring of a ring RR and AMn(S)A\in M_n(S) is invertible in Mn(R)M_n(R), then det(A)det(A) is invertible in RR. We give a very short proof of the result.
