A remark on the Kottwitz homomorphism

Abstract
We prove that for any split almost-simple connected reductive group G over a p-adic field F, the Kottwitz homomorphism exhibits a homomorphic section. We then extend this result to certain additional split connected reductive groups.

Accepted into Manuscripta. Mistake found in previous version in the argument generalizing from split almost-simple groups to split groups. Result now holds only for split almost-simple groups and, because of a contributed proof from the referee, certain additional split connected reductive groups
