A Proof Of Cantor's Theorem

History and Overview 2020-04-08 v2

Abstract

We present a short proof of Cantor's Theorem (circa 1870s): if ancosnx+bnsinnx0a_n \cos nx + b_n \sin nx \to 0 for each xx in some (nonempty) open interval, where an,bna_n, b_n are sequences of complex numbers, then ana_n and bnb_n converge to 0.
