A note on small cuts for a terminal

Data Structures and Algorithms 2014-03-06 v2

Abstract

Given a graph G=(V,E)G = (V,E) and a terminal sVs\in V, a cut XX for ss is a vertex set that contains ss. We look for a cut that is small in two senses, i.e., there are no more than kk vertices in XX and no more than tt edges leaving XX. Answering a question asked by Fomin et al. (arXiv:1304.6189), we show the problem is fixed-parameter tractable parameterized by either kk or tt.
