A note about claw function with a small range

Quantum Physics 2021-03-31 v1 Computational Complexity

Abstract

In the claw detection problem we are given two functions f:DRf:D\rightarrow R and g:DRg:D\rightarrow R (D=n|D|=n, R=k|R|=k), and we have to determine if there is exist x,yDx,y\in D such that f(x)=g(y)f(x)=g(y). We show that the quantum query complexity of this problem is between Ω(n1/2k1/6)\Omega\left(n^{1/2}k^{1/6}\right) and O(n1/2+εk1/4)O\left(n^{1/2+\varepsilon}k^{1/4}\right) when 2k<n2\leq k<n.
