A local asymptotic expansion for a local solution of the Stokes system

Abstract

We consider solutions of the Stokes system in a neighborhood of a point in which the velocity uu vanishes of order dd. We prove that there exists a divergence-free polynomial PP in xx with tt-dependent coefficients of degree dd which approximates the solution uu of order d+αd+\alpha for certain α>0\alpha>0. The polynomial PP satisfies a Stokes equation with a forcing term which is a sum of two polynomials in xx of degrees d1d-1 and dd. The results extend to Oseen systems and to the Navier-Stokes equation.
