A Finite Analogue Of Fine's Function $F(a,b;t)$

Abstract

We initiate a systematic development of FN(a,b;t)F_N(a, b; t), a finite analogue of Fine's function F(a,b;t)F(a, b; t). Our results are transformations between FN(a,b;t)F_N(a, b; t) and FN(aq,bqm;tqn)F_N(aq^{\ell}, bq^{m}; tq^{n}), where ,m\ell,m and nn take the values 00 or 11.
