A complete $g$-vector for convex polytopes

Combinatorics 2010-01-12 v1 K-Theory and Homology

Abstract

We define an extension of the toric (middle perversity intersection homology) gg-vector of a convex polytope XX. The extended g(X)g(X) encodes the whole of the flag vector f(X)f(X) of XX, and so is called complete. We find that for many examples that gk(X)0g_k(X)\geq 0 for most kk (independent of XX).
